Cruiser Class Vehicle
SM S-2 was our team's dedicated two-seater cruiser class car, designed and built to compete in the prestigious Sasol Solar Challenge in 2017.
This project marked a significant shift towards competitive, high-performance design. The SM S-2 was built on a full carbon fibre monocoque chassis, a first for the team, to achieve an incredibly low weight of just 200 kg.
It featured a 1kW high-efficiency monocrystalline solar array, a 5kW motor, and an advanced telemetry system for real-time race strategy. A key innovation was its aerodynamic design, which included an underbody tunnel to maximize downforce and stability.
