Description

Launched in 2015, SERVe (Solar Electric Road Vehicle) proudly stands as India’s first passenger solar electric vehicle prototype, designed and built entirely by the students of SolarMobil Manipal. The project showcased the team’s vision of clean mobility and sustainable engineering.

This two-seater, four-wheeled car features a lightweight AISI 4130 Chromoly steel chassis, a GFRP body, and a 6 m² curved solar array with 20% efficiency. Powered entirely by sunlight, SERVe can achieve a top speed of 65 km/h and a range of 250 km, proving that renewable energy can power real-world transportation.

Beyond innovation, SERVe brought national and international recognition to the team. It won QuEST Ingenium 2015, secured 3rd place at the CII India Innovation Challenge 2014 among 1,500 entries, and earned Airbus sponsorship for an exclusive tour of its Stade and Bremen facilities in Germany — milestones that established SolarMobil Manipal as a leader in student-driven sustainable mobility.
