Description

FREYR was SolarMobil’s very first solar car — the project that started it all in 2011. Designed, built, and assembled entirely by the SolarMobil Manipal team, this prototype marked our first step into the world of solar-powered mobility and green innovation.

A sleek, single-seater, three-wheeled design, FREYR featured a lightweight AISI 4130 Chromoly steel chassis and a durable Fibre Reinforced Plastic (FRP) body. Its 6 m² solar array powered the car directly from sunlight, offering a clean, quiet, and emission-free drive.

Built to meet World Solar Challenge standards under the Adventure Class category, FREYR gave our team invaluable hands-on experience in solar power integration, aerodynamics, and electric vehicle design — setting the foundation for all our future solar vehicles.
